“This is a story of a young girl who strives to play football. Anuradha challenges the gender norms her family strongly believes in. This is a story about a young girl’s passions, desires, her strong voice, and her persuasive negotiations with her family.

This story was made as part of a workshop with Thoughtshop Foundation in Kolkata, West Bengal in 2016-2017.
Thoughtshop Foundation, Kolkata, develops communication strategies, tools and training to educate, motivate and initiate change in the lives of young people. As part of Thoughtshop’s youth community leaders program, the 15 to 18-year-olds who participated in our digital storytelling workshops were all trained to facilitate conversations on health, equality and gender in the low-income communities in and around Kolkata in which they live.
However, platforms for talking about romance, sexuality and desire are harder to come by, and they quickly embraced both the workshop space and the medium of digital storytelling as a safe outlet for discussing these themes that occupy such a big part of their lives.”
“এটি একটি অল্প বয়সী মেয়ের গল্প যে ফুটবল খেলার জন্য নিজের সংগ্রাম চালিয়ে যায়।তার পরিবারের সদস্যরা যে সমস্ত লিঙ্গ রীতিনীতিগুলিকে দৃঢ় ভাবে বিশ্বাস করতো, অনুরাধা সেই সমস্ত রীতিনীতিগুলির বিরোধিতা করতো। একটি অল্প বয়সী মেয়ে কি ভাবে আলাপ আলোচনার মাধ্যমে তার আবেগ, আকাঙ্ক্ষা, বলিষ্ঠ কণ্ঠস্বর পরিবারের সামনে তুলে ধরতে পেরেছে, এই চলচ্চিত্রটি সেই বিষয়টি নিয়েই তৈরী হয়েছে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের কলকাতায় অবস্থিত থটশপ ফাউন্ডেশন আয়োজিত একটি কর্মশালার অংশ হিসাবে 2016-2017 সালে এই ছবিটি তৈরি হয়েছিল।
কলকাতার থটশপ ফাউন্ডেশন, কিশোর কিশোরীদের শিক্ষিত, অনুপ্রাণিত করতে এবং তাদের জীবনে পরিবর্তন নিয়ে আসার জন্য যোগাযোগ আর আদান প্রদানের কৌশল, সরঞ্জাম এবং প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি তৈরী করে। থটশপের কমিউনিটির যুব নেতৃত্ব কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে আমাদের ডিজিটাল গল্প বলার কর্মশালায় যোগ দিয়েছিলো 15 থেকে 18 বছরের কিশোর কিশোরীরা। কলকাতার এবং আশেপাশের এলাকা, যেখানে তারা থাকে, সেখানকার স্বল্প-আয়ের সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে স্বাস্থ্য, সমতা এবং লিঙ্গ সম্পর্কে কথা বার্তা চালানোর জন্য এরা সবাই প্রশিক্ষণ নিয়েছিল।
যাইহোক, রোম্যান্স, যৌনতা এবং আকাঙ্ক্ষা সম্পর্কে কথা বলার জন্য খোলা মঞ্চ প্রায় না থাকার জন্য এরা এই বিষয়গুলো নিয়ে আলোচনার জন্য কর্মশালার স্থান এবং ডিজিটাল গল্প বলা এই দুটি মাধ্যমকে সহজেই গ্রহণ করেছিল। যে বিষয়গুলো তাদের জীবনের একটা বড় অংশ জুড়ে আছে, তা নিয়ে যাতে নিরাপদে খোলামেলা আলোচনা করতে পারে।”
