Daniya’s dream was to become an airhostess. She gave up on her dreams after being discouraged by her family. She wants people to change their thinking and believe that girls are no less than boys. They can do anything.
This story was made as part of a media campaign called ‘Missing Voices’ in 2020, that centered the voices of young girls and women beyond ‘marriage and motherhood’ to a broader, richer discussion on their lives and sexualities filtered through the feminist lens of agency, autonomy, choice, consent, power, mobility and gender norms. These stories were made to infuse the national conversation around changing the age of marriage discussion, to broaden it and bring multiple dimensions and nuances that need careful consideration before any change in the age of marriage was made. Our partners from West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh worked on this campaign and it was supported by the American Jewish World Society (AJWS).”
दानिया का सपना एक एयरहोस्टेस बनने का है। परिवार का सहयोग ना मिलने के कारण उन्होंने अपना सपना छोड़ दिया। वह चाहती हैं कि दुनिया वाले अपनी सोच बदलें और मानें कि लड़कियाँ लड़कों से किसी भी तरह कम नहीं हैं। वह कुछ भी कर सकती हैं।
यह फ़िल्म सन् 2020 में ‘मिसिंग वॉइसेज़’ नाम के मीडिया अभियान के हिस्से के तौर पर बनाई गई थी जो किशोरियों और महिलाओं की आवाज़ों और विचारों को, ‘शादी और मातृत्व’ से हट कर उनकी ज़िन्दगी और यौनिकता के बारे में उनके अस्तित्व, स्वायत्ता, चुनाव, सहमति, सत्ता, आने-जाने की आज़ादी और जेण्डर क़ायदे के नारीवादी नज़रिए से एक व्यापक, गहन चर्चा के लिए सामने लाती है। यह फ़िल्में शादी की उम्र बदलने के इर्द-गिर्द हो रही राष्ट्रीय बातचीत और चर्चा में योगदान देने के लिए बनाई गई थीं; चर्चा को व्यापक करने के लिए और उसमें सभी आयाम और बारीकियों को शामिल करने के लिए जिन पर शादी की उम्र बदलने से पहले ध्यान दिया जा सके। पश्चिम बंगाल और उत्तर प्रदेश से हमारी सहयोगी संस्थाओं ने इस अभियान पर काम किया और यह इसे अमेरिकन ज्विश वर्ल्ड सोसाइटी (एजेडब्लूएस) द्वारा सहयोग दिया गया।
