During lockdown, we were told to keep our distance from each other and keep to ourselves. Farida reminds us that as human beings, we need to take care of each other no matter what.
This story was made as part of workshops with Sampada Grameen Mahila Sanstha (Sangram), Sangli conducted online during the pandemic. Point of View partnered with Sangram across three workshops in 2020-2021. This was the first time we conducted digital storytelling workshops remotely, participants and facilitators worked together to overcome technical challenges, rethinking communication and facilitation as we collectively created a space of care and safety.
Sampada Grameen Mahila Sanstha (Sangram) has grown into a series of collective empowerment groups for stigmatized communities (sex workers, MSM, and transgender individuals) in six districts of southern Maharashtra and northern Karnataka. The community members from various groups, who participated in our digital storytelling workshops were equipped with digital storytelling techniques – how do we tell our stories? What do we want to say? How do we convey what we want to say through pictures, symbols? What are some of the ways we should shoot or create, were some of the questions we explored and learned about. The participants used their devices individually or in groups to make their stories and attend the workshop.
COVID-19 isolation, lack of access to healthcare, human solidarities emerged as some themes, a reflection of their experiences and everyday challenges
तालाबंदी के दौरान हमसे एक दूसरे से दूरी बना कर अपने काम से काम रखने को कहा गया। फ़रीदा याद दिलाती हैं कि एक इंसान होने के नाते हमें एक दूसरे का ख़्याल रखने की ज़रूरत है, हालात चाहे जैसे भी हों।
यह फ़िल्म कोविड-19 महामारी के दौरान संपदा ग्रामीण महिला संस्था के साथ की गई ऑनलाइन कार्यशाला में बनाई गई थी। पॉइन्ट ऑफ़ व्यू ने संग्राम के साथ सन् 2020-21 में तीन कार्यशालाओं के लिए साझेदारी की थी। यह पहला मौक़ा था जब हमने डिजीटल कहानीकार कार्यशालायें इस तरह ऑनलाइन माध्यम से की थीं, प्रतिभागियों और सुगमकर्ताओं ने साथ मिलकर सभी तकनीकी चुनौतियों का सामना किया, बातचीत के नए तरीक़ों पर विचार किया और मिलकर एक सुरक्षा, प्यार और देखभाल की जगह बनाई।
संपदा ग्रामीण महिला संस्था (संग्राम), समाज में बुरे समझे जाने वाले समुदायों (सेक्सवर्कर, एमएसएम और ट्रांन्सजेण्डर व्यक्ति) के लिए सामूहिक सशक्तिकरण समूहों की श्रंखला के रूप में दक्षिण महाराष्ट्र और उत्तरी कर्नाटक के 6 ज़िलों में विकसित हुआ है। समुदाय के सदस्य अनेकों समूहों से हैं, जिन्होंने हमारी डिजीटल कहानीकार कार्यशालाओं में हिस्सा लिया और डिजीटल कहानी कहने की तकनीक सीखीं – हम कैसे अपनी कहानी सुनायेंगें? हम क्या कहना चाहते हैं? हम जो कहना चाहते हैं, वह हम तस्वीरों, प्रतीकों के माध्यम से कैसे बताएगें? कहानी को फ़िल्माने या बनाने के लिए क्या तरीक़े हो सकते हैं? यह कुछ सवाल थे जिनपर समझ बनाते हुए सीख बनाई गई। प्रतिभागियों ने अपनी डिवाइसों को व्यक्तिगत रूप से या समूह में इस्तेमाल करके अपनी कहानी बनाई और कार्यशाला में हिस्सा लिया।
कोविड-19 की क़ैद, स्वास्थ्य देखभाल तक पहुँच ना होना, इंसानी एकजुटता जैसे कुछ विषय इन फ़िल्मों के विषय के रूप में सामने आए जो उनके दैनिक जीवन के अनुभवों और चुनौतियों के बारे में बताते हैं।
