Pushpa’s husband desperately requires medical care. It’s the pandemic. Doctors won’t even come near him. Through courage and determination, along with support from a few people, Pushpa navigates the challenges of accessing healthcare in the pandemic.
This story was made as part of workshops with Sampada Grameen Mahila Sanstha (Sangram), Sangli conducted online during the pandemic. Point of View partnered with Sangram across three workshops in 2020-2021. This was the first time we conducted digital storytelling workshops remotely, participants and facilitators worked together to overcome technical challenges, rethinking communication and facilitation as we collectively created a space of care and safety.
Sampada Grameen Mahila Sanstha (Sangram) has grown into a series of collective empowerment groups for stigmatized communities (sex workers, MSM, and transgender individuals) in six districts of southern Maharashtra and northern Karnataka. The community members from various groups, who participated in our digital storytelling workshops were equipped with digital storytelling techniques – how do we tell our stories? What do we want to say? How do we convey what we want to say through pictures, symbols? What are some of the ways we should shoot or create, were some of the questions we explored and learned about. The participants used their devices individually or in groups to make their stories and attend the workshop.
COVID-19 isolation, lack of access to healthcare, human solidarities emerged as some themes, a reflection of their experiences and everyday challenges.”
पुष्पाच्या नवर्‍याला तातडीने वैद्यकीय उपचारांची गरज आहे. महामारीचा काळ आहे. डॉक्टर त्याच्या नजीक जायलादेखील तयार नाहीत. काही व्यक्तींची मदत घेऊन पुष्पा महामारीदरम्यान वैद्यकीय उपचार मिळविण्याच्या आव्हानांना धैर्याने आणि निर्धाराने सामोरी जाते.
कोरोना महामारीच्या काळात संपदा ग्रामीण महिला संस्था (संग्राम), सांगली यांकरिता घेतलेल्या ऑनलाईन कार्यशाळेचा एक भाग म्हणून ही चित्रफीत निर्माण केली गेली. २०२०-२०२१ साली ‘पॉईंट ऑफ व्ह्यू’ने संग्रामसोबत तीन कार्यशाळा राबविल्या. डिजिटल स्टोरीटेलिंग (डिजिटल कथाकथन) कार्यशाळा प्रत्यक्ष न भेटता ऑनलाईन घेण्याची ही आमची पहिलीच वेळ होती. सहभागी व्यक्ती आणि कार्यशाळा प्रशिक्षकांनी एकत्र काम करून तांत्रिक अडचणींवर मात केली, तसेच आपुलकीयुक्त व सुरक्षित असे वातावरण सामूहिकरीत्या निर्माण करत करत संप्रेषण व प्रशिक्षण यांवर पुनर्विचारही केला.
संपदा ग्रामीण महिला संस्था (संग्राम) वर्धित होऊन आता दक्षिण महाराष्ट्र व उत्तर कर्नाटक येथील सहा जिल्ह्यांमधील कलंकित समुदायांसाठीच्या (वेश्यावर्ग, एमएसएम व ट्रान्सजेंडर व्यक्ती) अनेक सामूहिक सबलीकरण गटांमध्ये तिचे रूपांतर झाले आहे. आमच्या डिजिटल कथाकथन कार्यशाळेमध्ये सहभागी झालेल्या विविध गटांमधील सदस्य व्यक्तींना डिजिटल कथाकथन तंत्रांचे प्रशिक्षण दिले गेले – आपण आपल्या गोष्टी कशा सांगायच्या? आपल्याला काय म्हणायचे आहे? आपले म्हणणे चित्रे व प्रतीकांच्या माध्यमातून कसे मांडावे? कशा पद्धतीने चित्रीकरण करावे किंवा चित्रफीत बनवावी? अशा काही प्रश्नांचा धांडोळा आम्ही घेतला व त्याबद्दल शिकलो. सहभागी व्यक्तींनी वैयक्तिक अथवा गटागटाने आपापली फोन/ संगणक अशी यंत्रे वापरून कार्यशाळेस उपस्थिती लावली व आपापल्या कथा तयार केल्या.
त्यांच्या अनुभवांवर व दैनंदिन समस्यांवर केलेल्या विचारविमर्शातून कोव्हिड-१९ काळातील विलगीकरण, वैद्यकीय सेवेची अनुपलब्धता, माणसांमधील जिव्हाळा व एकजूट असे काही मुद्दे वर आले.
