Mehak does not go to school, and looks after her younger siblings and does household chores. One day she sees a girl riding a scooter and wishes to talk to her. They see each other every day and only later begin talking, and she learns that Ekta works for an organisation that works with young people.. Ekta takes her there, and she begins to study and learn some skills. But the challenge is – will Mehak’s parents let her go to school after that?
This story was made as part of a workshop with The YP Foundation in New Delhi in 2017-2018.
The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth-led organisation that facilitates young people’s feminist and rights-based leadership on issues of health equity, gender justice, sexuality rights, and social justice. महक स्कूल नहीं जाती है और अपने छोटे भाई-बहनों की देखभाल के साथ घर के कामों में लगी रहती है। एक दिन उसने एक लड़की को स्कूटर चलाते देखा और उसकी उससे बात करने की इच्छा हुई। दोनों एक दूसरे को रोज़ देखतीं और कुछ दिन बाद उनकी बातचीत शुरु हुई, उसने जाना कि एकता एक संस्था में काम करती है जो युवाओं के साथ काम करती है.. एकता उसे लेकर वहाँ गई और उसने पढ़ाई करना और कुछ हुनर सीखना शुरु किया। लेकिन मुश्किल यह है – क्या महक के माता-पिता उसे इसके बाद स्कूल भेजेगें?
यह फ़िल्म सन् 2017-2018 में वाईपी फ़ाउन्डेशन के साथ नई दिल्ली में की गई कार्यशाला में बनाई गई थी। द वाईपी फ़ाउन्डेशन (टीवाईपीएफ़) एक युवा नेतृत्व वाली संस्था है जो युवाओं के स्वास्थ्य समता, जेण्डर न्याय, यौनिक अधिकार और सामाजिक न्याय पर नारीवादी और अधिकार आधारित नेतृत्व को बढ़ावा देती है। टीवाईपीएफ़ सुनिश्चित करती है कि युवाओं के पास कार्यक्रमों और नीतियों के विकास और उनके क्रियान्वहन का नेतृत्व करने के लिए जानकारी, क्षमता और अवसर हों जो उनके जीवन पर प्रभाव डालते हैं और उन्हें सामाजिक बदलाव के जागरुक और सक्षम लीडर के रूप में पहचाना जाए।
